Cloudy Water
Cause: Inadequate filtration or dirty filter.
Solution: Check that the filter is securely attached. Clean or replace filter.
Cause: Water isn't in balance.
Solution: Test water. Adjust sanitizer level, pH and/or alkalinity levels as needed.
Cause: Unfiltered particles in water or overused/old water.
Solution: Use Softcare Water Clear to clear water; or drain and refill spa.
Family Softub

Musty Odor

Cause: Not enough sanitizer in water - bacteria or algae in water.
Solution: Add sanitizer as needed.

Yellow Water

Cause: Low pH
Solution: Adjust pH with Softcare pH Up.

Foaming

Cause: High concentrations of body oils, lotions, or soaps as well as high temperatures and excessive contaminants can cause foaming.
Solution: Use Softcare Defoam and adjust pH and sanitizer levels as needed.

Scum Ring In Tub

Cause: Body oils and dirt.
Solution: Use Spa Perfect once a week to breakdown oils and lotions to prevent scum from forming.

Failure to get a Chlorine Reading

Cause: Sanitizer level is too low.
Solution: Add Softcare Chlor until desired level is attained.
Cause: Too much algae present.
Solution: Dirty water will eat up the sanitizer as soon as it is added. Add more Softcare Chlor until the sanitizer tests and stabilizes in the recommended range of 3 - 5 ppm.
Cause: If the sanitizer level is extremely high it can bleach the reagents on the test strip and give a false reading.
Solution: See Below

Too Much Sanitizer in the Water

Cause: Too much chlorine in water.
Solution: Drain half the water and refill. Test and balance water.

Eye or Skin Irritation

Cause: Contaminants or excessive amount of chlorimines in water.
Solution: Adjust sanitizer level. Superchlorinate.
Cause: pH level is low.
Solution: Adjust pH and sanitizer levels as needed.

Corrosion of Metal

Cause: Low pH.
Solution: Adjust pH with Softcare pH Up.

Green Water/Algae

Cause: Low sanitizer level or high pH
Solution: Adjust pH and sanitizer as needed.

Erratic pH Test Color

Cause: Sanitizer level is too high.
Solution: Test pH when sanitizer level drops below 5 ppm.
The tub is plugged in but nothing works. Outlet is 120 volts.
Cause: The outlet may be wired incorrectly. The GFCI only works if the wiring is in the proper orientation.
Solution: Try a different outlet and consult an electrician to repair the outlet or circuit in question.

The control panel reads "IPS" or "IP5" and the tub won't run.

Cause: The tub is connected to an "Insufficient Power Supply" and has deliberately turned itself off.
Solution:
1. If there is a temporary brown-out or low-voltage situation from the power company, unplug the tub and wait for the power to be fully restored. Be careful during extreme low temperatures to protect the unit from freezing.
2. If no large scale power problem is present, check the installation to ensure that an extension cord is not being used. If one is, remove it and plug the unit directly into an acceptable outlet.
3. Ensure the plug connection is good and has not been compromised.
4. Check for other appliances or equipment on the same circuit that may be causing a drain on the supplied power. Either isolate the tub power supply by connecting the other equipment to another circuit or connect the tub to a different isolated power supply.
5. Try another outlet.
The LED Temp display light is flashing.
Cause: The water is too hot or there is a fault in he Control System.
Solution:
1. Allow the water temperature to drop below 100° F.
2. If the light still flashes, take the motor unit to your dealer.

Cannot Activate the Jets

Cause: There is a voltage supply problem or a mechanical problem in the motor unit or GFCI.
Solution: Check that the LED Temp Display on the control panel is on. If the lights or on:
1. Press the JETS button, if the motor unit comes on, the water in the tub has reached its set temperature.
2. If the unit does not come on, advance temperature to 104°. If the heating light is on and the pump is not running, unplug the unit for a few hours then repeat step one. If the unit still fails to start, your unit may need servicing.

No LED Temp Display

Cause: Loss of the power at the wall switch or motor unit.
Solution:
1. Make sure the unit is plugged into a 110 - 120 volt outlet with an isolated power supply of 15 amps.
2. Test GFCI on power supply cord.
3. Check for power supply at the outlet using a 110 volt appliance such as a hair dryer or lamp.
4. If the GFCI is not functioning, and there is power to the outlet, you motor unit may need servicing.
5. If the GFCI is not tripping and the LED Temp. is flashing, the water is too hot. Let the tub cool below 100°.
6. If the above happens repeatedly or the motor unit does not reset, consult your dealer for service.

Weak Jets

Cause: Air or solid obstruction in the plumbing. If the tub was just filled, it is most likely air.
Solution:
1. Check to see that the jets are turned on.
2. Make sure water height is at least 2" above the top of the uppermost jet.
3. Verify that no plugs or other coverings are over suction inlets in the tub. (lower fittings)
4. Turn the jets on and off several times to clear air.

All jets lost power while operating.

Cause: Obstruction in plumbing.
Solution:
1. Remove filter.
2. Check to see if the suction strainers are in place and free of debris.
3. If these are clean and you still have weak jets:
A. Unplug the unit.
B. Drain tub
C. Disconnect hoses.
D. Separate motor unit from tub.
E. Inspect the plumbing exposed by opening the unions for blocking materials such as hair, leaves, plastic bags, etc.
F. Clean and flush the motor unit with full pressure from a garden hose placed in the top large hose connector of the motor unit.
G. Re-assemble and try again.
4. If no blocking objects were found and there is still no power, debris is probably lodged inside the pump. Consult your dealer for service.

One jet has lost power

Cause: The jet is closed or there is an obstruction at this jet.
Solution:
1. A solid obstruction may be present inside the jet. Remove the jet per dealer instructions, clean out and replace.

Can't shut off the air to the jets

Cause: Air control valve is not fully shut.
Solution: Turn air control on and off several times.

Tub will not heat up to desired temperature

Cause: Environment is not right for tub to heat properly.
Solution:
1. To heat faster, turn off air control valves completely - no air bubbles into tub.
2. Fit lid onto tub.
3. Set temperature to 104° F and allow the motor unit to cycle several times until the thermostat control shuts off.

Tub and/or motor unit leaks water

Cause: Water will typically be observed where the motor unit attaches to the tub. This is called "casual moisture" from condensation.
Solution:
1. Dry the area.
2. Check that hose clamps are tight.
3. Identify Origin of leaking water.
4. Tub leaks should be verified by your dealer.
5. A leaking motor unit should be taken in for service.

The air control is turning on and off on its own during heat calls and filter cycles

Cause: The tub is automatically adding ozone.
Solution: None. The tub is doing what it is designed to do.
